It's a new year

Thu Jan 8, 2009, 9:32 AM
And therefore, a new post.

Things went enh, in 2008. Lots of people I looked up to died, as did my childhood pet. Nobody interesting or worth keeping around really showed up save for Sarah, who is pretty spiffy, if I do say so.
I left one game for another, and I prefer this other, save for the current overpopulation of deities that make me want to punch puppies. The people there are interesting, to say the least. I created a bunch of new characters, and got more into certain bands.

I fell out of love with deviantART. It's only as good as its user base, which generally stinks. I have a lot of really good people watching me, and who I watch, however. Most of us draw for fun, but some of you people really have the potential to be professionals at it, and for that, I salute you. Keep working at it, and you may do something with it.
I still check dA daily, as habit dictates, and I still get upwards of around 10 favorites a day. That's pretty good, considering I haven't uploaded squat in a month or so.

My art is currently suffering due to lack of artistic creativity. I write more often, sometimes I design wallpapers and junk for myself using brushes I find here, but other than that, I tend to ignore drawing in lieu of writing about my characters.

And I really should know better than to write journals right after I wake up. I'm NOT a morning person.

Edit: I made a playlist of all the songs I put into the "Listening To:" category of my journals in 2008! Do please listen - [link]

  • Mood: Grouchy
  • Listening to: APC - Judith
  • Drinking: Dew

Well, it it's any consolation, I have our annual gaming convention EVERCON to suffer through in like 2 days. ( [link] )

It would be ok if I was just going, but I end up spending the whole day working on every possible thing there and it's just a huge sack of fail because it's not fun at that point. IT'S WORK! This year I'm running the cosplay, DJing, working the Artist Alley, I did all the posters and the website, picked the theme and some of the movies out, etc. ...

Last year basically sucked ass on most accords. My new years resolution this year is to stop doing obligatory bullshit that I don't really want to do, but feel like I have to due to obligation. Things like going to relatives houses when I have no interest going there, or being rooked into doing favors because "that's the way it's always been". It's bullshit and I need to stop it. It's just damaging to me.

I commend you on your ability to make a website look like it was time traveled by Delorean from the 80s. Effective, I was all, "Dude, Adam. You could have gone with less FABULOUS colors there, bro" but then I saw what the theme of the year was and it all made sense and now I approve.

I approve of your resolutions. I didn't make any. :D

Never let it settle,
'Til the good gets better,
And the better get metal.

Yeah, I can't not make something FABULOUS if my life depended on it. I actually had to steal a few of the members of Duran Duran, some jelly bracelets, a couple sheets of Acid, every 80's compilation within a 5 mile radius, and the time machine from the movie "The Time Machine" because it looks like something Elton John would drive through the Everglades ( [link] ) to make that website. My dream is to have that site cause seizures from it's sheer hyper-color overload.

It almost did its job with me, boy howdy. Fuck, man, it's fantastically 80s.

The only way you could make it any MORE 80s and still manage to keep it gamey is by throwing a picture of Princess Peach up on it, wearing legwarmers and and a sweat headband. Flashdance style.

There's always next year, lol.

I would have totally done that if I had the time. And yes, she would look FABULOUS too! That's a great mental image too. Why couldn't someone have mentioned that like 4 months ago when I started working on the poster!
