I hate to do this.

I have become ridiculously fed up with deviantART's policies and stance on tracing and fan art. A long time ago, I left Elfwood because they started giving the same treatment to fan art and other art as dA is giving fan artists now. The fact is that when I joined dA back in 2001 (under my first account), they had policies in place that protected artists and brought down tracers.

I am not going to support deviantART when they're treating their legitimate artists, fan artists like crap, and allow thieves and tracing. I don't particularly like Y!Gallery's allowing of furry and shota work on their site, but I prefer Y!Gallery's Zero Tolerance of tracing and underage users. They may be assholes, but I prefer assholes to slackers any day of the week. I don't really draw or write about girls very often, so that's fine with me.

Until I find an artist's community that I can post my art for free, without being lumped in with tracers and thieves, a place that allows original content as well as fan art, whose policies are strict against tracers and art thieves, I'm going to be sticking with Y!Gallery.

I hate to say this to all you kind folks that make deviantART a great place, but I'm packing it up and calling it quits here.

Even thru I agree with you I'm not ready yet to pack it all in. Seems no place around is perfect. I hope that at least DA listens to people like us about this.
I've always enjoyed Y! but I fear for them since money is always tight.

It's the principal of the thing. I would rather have my art nowhere than support a place that I don't agree with.

Where else do I turn to? Or anyone else? Not many places like DA. My art is not limited to yaoi but also I have a wide audience already here. I hate to just give that up. I'm thinking of asking folks to please voice their opinion on DA in that news article. Already a lot have from what I saw. I hope this is something that is retracted. I really do. I just can't get over how this is viewed by the top dog here.

Try Wetpaint. I'm not 100% if that is what you want.

Never going to be a good place around.

But I do still fear for Y! cause of money and all.

I'm not leading a rally against dA, you can stay if that's your wish. I'm simply calling it quits, myself. It's up to you to do what you want, I have no sway one way or another. I don't intend to be a revolutionary or attempt to bring people with me. I'm taking a lone stand against assholes like RealitySquared and Chix0r. Nothing of importance is lost by my going, and nothing will really make much difference as far as my leaving is concerned, but at least my own conscience will be absolved.

My doodles aren't good enough to really keep up on a place anyway, it's no big deal if they're gone or not. I'm not packing up drawing or giving up a hobby I really enjoy, I'm just not going to share it on a site I don't agree with even 50 percent.

Frankly, I know it's selfish of me, but I'd rather feel like I'm doing the right thing, than to go against my principals and stay on a site that supports thieves.

I'm gonna need your Y!gallery link, then. I'll probably pester you on AIM for it one of these days, when I'm sure my mom isn't gonna be WHY ARE YOU ONLINE.

I'd follow suit, but my roots are already too deep here, and I hate change. Plus, I'm such an optimist... I've been in the same mindset that, if I stay long enough, things will return to how they once were.

If you haven't tried, there's also Storm-Artists, but I'm not positive on what their tracing policy is; I haven't bothered to look, because I all but forgot I had an account there.

Frankly, I'm shocked more people aren't doing this.

I know about the whole tracing issue, but what do they say about fanart? I don't think i've heard anything.

That's me lower right. When the photographer took my picture he asked me to act naturally, so I yelled at him to stop disgracing his family and get a real job.
